Meet the Therapists
Pegah Jamshidi
MSW., RSW.
I offer a virtual DBT skills group accompanied by virtual individual sessions.
I am a registered social worker with the OCSWSSW and a psychotherapist.
I have been practicing as a social worker since 2011. I have worked in various settings including community mental health, hospitals, and primary care. While I have knowledge and experience in delivering a variety of therapeutic modalities, my primary focus has been developing skills and practice in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), which is a treatment best suited for problems related to emotion dysregulation (including borderline personality disorder, anxiety, depression, aggression, substance use, eating disorder, self-harm and suicidal behaviour). I have completed Marsha Linehan’s DBT intensive training program and received certification through Behavioural Tech, In 2015, I took a lead role in developing and implementing a hospital based DBT program, and have offered supervision in this area to other service providers.
The DBT treatment I provide is delivered through a skills group, individual sessions, and phone coaching. It combines validation and change to help individuals accept and experience their emotions fully while being in control of their behaviours in order to live a “life worth living”.
Cheryl Hoban
MSW., RSW.
I offer virtual, individual therapy.
I am a registered social worker with the OCSWSSW and a psychotherapist. I hold undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Social Work, as well as, a Master's degree in Social Work. I have been practicing as a social worker since 2008 and providing psychotherapy since 2013.
It is important to me to create a therapeutic environment that is safe, transparent and free of judgment. I believe that everyone has unique individual needs in therapy, and in order to meet those needs I use a variety of therapeutic modalities, including but not limited to, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical-Behavior Therapy (DBT). I am trained in perinatal mental health and mood disorders, as well as, perinatal loss and grief.
My hope is to provide women of all ages and stages with the tools to take care of themselves and to live a life they value. Since having my own children, I have a special interest in working with people who are in the various stages of motherhood; from pregnancy, to loss, to adjusting to life with baby and everything in between.
